Category toggle button Registration

What do I need to register for DostPost?

All you need to register for DostPost is a valid email address (having a few dreams doesn't hurt either).

I want my university to be on DostPost but I don't see it listed?

Please tell us that you'd like DostPost to be available at your university here.

I registered but my verification link never made it to my email inbox?

We sent the email containing the confirmation link but it probably got snagged in your spam filter or was added to your junk folder. If you are still having trouble, try to login here. You will receive an error message but this will trigger the sending of another confirmation link to your email inbox. Use the most recent confirmation email from DostPost and follow the link inside. If you are still having trouble, then don't hesitate to contact us.

Category toggle button Password and Login Issues

I forgot my password.

Use our Forgotten Password form.

I want to change my password.

While logged in, click on “Account Settings” in the navigation area the Password tab will be open. Enter your current password and then set your new desired password. If you tried to change your password and it did not work, please contact us from the email address in which your account is registered.

When I attempt to login the page simply refreshes. What now?

You must have cookies enabled to login. If you need help to enable cookies read below:

  1. In Internet Explorer: Tools->Options->Privacy Tab->Enable cookies
  2. In Firefox: Tools->Options->Privacy Tab->Cookies Tab->"Allow sites to set cookies"->OK
  3. In Safari: Safari->Preferences->Security Tab->"Always Accept Cookies" or "only from sites you navigate to."

Once this is completed, close and restart your browser and try logging in again. Also, double-check so that DostPost cookies are allowed by your firewall and spyware programs.

In the future, my email address I currently use to login will expire. What happens then?

The only day your university email address needs to be valid is the day you register (to retrieve your confirmation link). After that, your email address is simply your login name and its functionality becomes irrelevant. However, if you still want to get DostPost email updates and notifications, you need to declare a secondary contact email by going to the "Account Settings" in the Navigation area, selecting the "Contact E-mail" tab, then enter your password and provide a valid "Contact E-mail."

Doing this will also enable you to use your contact e-mail as your login email.

Can I change my login email address?

Yes and No. You must login with the email address you successfully registered with or with the contact email address you have provided as your secondary email. However, if you do not provide a secondary contact email, then you must login with the email address you registered with. It does not matter if the email account is functional or expired.

Category toggle button Dreams

How do I edit the title of a dream I've declared?

Sorry, you can't. There is not one "owner" of a dream, rather it's shared by everyone so it would be chaos if everyone could edit the title. If there are other people n the dream, then you are stuck with it (or you can quit). But there is some hidden magic we'd like you to know about. If you are the only person in your dream and you quit that dream, it will disappear from the dream database entirely. Then you can go back and declare the dream again with proper wording and spelling.

I have many dreams-- what should I do?

That's great. We love big dreamers, but declare one dream at a time. If you dream to graduate from university, go to graduate school, marry the love of your life, have a great family, become rich, and then travel the world-- break that sequence up into individual dreams rather than trying to string related things together into one dream.

Where and how do I declare my dreams?

Go to the "Dreams" link at the top of the page. Enter your dream into the search box. You'll get a list of related dreams and possibly an exact match. If none of those look good to you, you can create the dream with the hope to attract others to join you in the dream at the bottom of the search results list.

Why should I declare my dreams?

We believe that by sharing dreams we all become more committed to making them happen. Also, you are likely to meet people who share an interest on your dream and they may be able to help you out.

What are dream updates?

Dream updates let you share your dream experiences with the rest of the world. First, you may want to write an update telling everyone why your dream is important to you. After that, keep everyone updated on your progress. You'll never know when someone reading about your experiences will be able to give you some timely advice.

Category toggle button Dosts

How do I find Dosts already using DostPost and add them as a Dost?

Anytime you see "Add to Dosts" next to a member's name you can send them a request to be Dosts. Once they confirm your invitation you'll be Dosts. To find your Dosts you can search for them or browse a list of all members at your university (a link for this is provided on the search page). If you don't see your Dosts, invite them to join DostPost.

If you don't understand what "Search" and "Browse" are then you will find the "Search and Browse" section helpful. If you have other problems keep reading for your solution.

Where will I find the "Add to Dosts" link?

You'll see this link in several places on the site which will allow you to send requests to become Dosts. You'll see this link next to member names on search results, when someone Scribbles on a profile, when someone posts a comment on a discussion board, when someone posts a comment on a project abstract, as well as on profile pages below the member photo. If you don't see this option next to a member's name it means that you are already Dosts with that person and you probably don't need to be reading this section.

If you tried a Search and a Browse and are still having trouble when looking for the "Add to Dosts" link on the site, you have a few options:
  1. Send an invitation to some of your Dosts to join the site. If they accept by using the link enclosed in your invitation email you will automatically become Dosts when they register. Or, if they register by going directly to the site, they will likely do a search for you and send you an invitation to be Dosts.
  2. Try surfing DostPost. Do a Search or a Browse and try going to a random profile of one of your batch mates and seeing who they are Dosts with -- maybe you will know someone.

If I reject a Dost invite, will the inviter find out?

No. If you reject someone's Dost invite they will not get a notification informing them that their invitation has been rejected.

If I send a Dost invite, do I get a notification when they accept my invitation to be Dosts?

No. Just look for their name to be added to your Dosts List (the link is in the navigation area). If their name is not appearing on your Dosts List it means they have not yet gotten around to confirming your request or else they have rejected your invitation. If you'd like to remind them, you can still send them a message by doing a Search for their name and clicking on the "Send Message" link on the right hand side of the Search Results page.

If I remove someone from my Dost List will they find out?

They won't receive a notification, but being Dosts with someone is mutual. So if you remove them from you Dost List you'll also be removed from the Dost List of your ex-Dost.

How do I know if I have pending Dost invites?

When you login, look for new "Notifications" in the right hand column of the home page under your profile photo. If you see "Dost Invites" in that area then click on the link. The number of new pending Dost Invites is in parenthesis after the words "Dost Invites." If you do not see any "Dost Invites" it means you don't have any new pending invites. If you don't see the "Notification" area at all it means you don't have new notifications of any type. You can also see if you have pending invitations by looking next to "Dost List" in the navigation area.
