DostPost has provided you with highly developed technical tools that enable you to make decisions regarding your privacy on DostPost that match your comfort levels. However, what you choose to put in the public domain is your choice and can directly affect your security, privacy, and safety. That choice is yours and one that DostPost cannot make for you nor can we be responsible for the ramifications of what you choose to share.

Through your Privacy Settings (link found in the Navigation area) you can determine who can search for you, who can see your profile, and who can see your In-Touch Info. You will find a wide variety of choices that result in extremely customizable privacy settings. We've done this to ensure that each DostPost member enjoys an online experience that matches his or her comfort level.

DostPost’s Full Privacy Policy

The DostPost Privacy Policy exists to describe how we treat personal information you decide to share when using DostPost found at www.dostpost.com ("DostPost" or "Web Site").

Collected Information

When you visit DostPost you provide us with two types of information: Personal Information and Anonymous Information.

"Personal Information" is information about you that is personally identifiable to you, such as your name, address, e-mail address, your gender, schools attended, and phone number, as well as other non-public information that is associated with the foregoing and any other personal information that you provide to us. Also, we store certain information related to your DostPost account on your browser using "cookies." A "cookie" is a small file containing a string of characters that is sent to your computer when you visit a website. When you visit the website again, the cookie allows that site to recognize your browser. Cookies may store user preferences and other information. For instance, we use a cookie that allows us to remember your email address login (but not your password) so that you do not have to type it in with each visit. We also use an encrypted cookie to keep track of your active login using an encrypted text string. Disabling cookies on your browser will effectively prevent you from logging in to DostPost.com. However when your browser is closed or the 'logout' link is clicked on the site, most identifiable information is cleared from those cookies.

"Anonymous Information" is information that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Information; Anonymous Information does not permit the identification of individual persons. For instance, when you visit DostPost we collect your browser type and IP address, just like every other website does. This type of information is gathered for everyone who visits DostPost, and is never associated with a DostPost user account.

When visiting DostPost you can perform a number of functions that we provide to you as services (i.e. pursue Dreams, meet people, write messages, etc.). We collect this information so that we can provide you the service and other personalized features. In most cases, we retain it so that, for instance, you can return to view prior messages you have sent or easily see your Dost list. When you update information, we usually keep a backup copy of the prior version for a reasonable period of time to enable reversion to the prior version of that information.

If you post personally identifiable information in areas of the site accessible to other users (as decided by you), you should be aware that such information can be read, collected, or used by other users of these forums, and could be used improperly to send you unsolicited messages. DostPost is not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums or for others' misuse of such information. Any misuse or improper collection of information provided on DostPost is a violation of the DostPost Terms of Service and should be reported through our Abuse function located in the Contact Us section.

If you choose to use our invite service to tell a Dost about our site, we will ask you for your Dosts's email address. We will automatically send your friend a one-time email inviting him or her to visit the site. DostPost does not store this information.

By using DostPost, you are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed within India.

Persons under Age 18

We encourage persons under the age of 18 to ask their parents or guardians for permission to use DostPost or send any type of personal information over the Internet.

Use of Information

As previously mentioned, when you register with DostPost and set up your account you determine and control your profile content and privacy settings. Your name, status (if applicable), batch entry year (if applicable), and photo are displayed to those you determine to be allowed to search for you. This is done so that other people can find you and request to be your Dost and learn more about you. People who are able to see the previously mentioned aspects (name, status (if applicable), batch entry year (if applicable), and photo) will not be able to view your entire profile. Who is able to see your entire profile is determined by you in your privacy settings.

Profile information is used by DostPost primarily to be shown back to you and other members you permit to see your profile as well as to be edited by you. In some cases, such as posting on your Scribbles, other members are able to add to the content of your profile page.

From time to time, DostPost may send you service based email announcements which are non-promotional. We will send you an email when someone invites you to be their Dost or writes on your Scribbles or comments on your photo album. We feel that these alerts enhance the DostPost service. If you do not want to receive email alerts in these instances you have the option to deactivate your account.

DostPost may use information in your profile without identifying you as an individual to third parties. This anonymous information is used to determine preferences so that advertisements and promotions can be more relative to your preferences which will make them more interesting to you. But, DostPost will never provide names that link to this anonymous information nor will DostPost ever disclose your contact information to an outside party.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

We do not provide contact information to third party marketers without your permission. We share anonymous information with third parties only in limited circumstances.

The first circumstance is when we may provide information to service providers to help us bring you the services we offer. Specifically, we may use third parties to facilitate our business, such as to host the service at a co-location facility for servers or to send out email updates about DostPost. When third parties are involved in the processing of any personal information, we implement reasonable contractual and technical protections limiting the use of that information to the DostPost-specified purposes.

Another circumstance is when sharing your information is required by law. We may be required to disclose user information pursuant to lawful requests, such as subpoenas or court orders, or in compliance with applicable laws. We do not reveal information until we have a good faith belief that an information request by law enforcement or private litigants meets applicable legal standards. Additionally, we may share account or other information when we believe it is necessary to comply with law, to protect our interests or property, to prevent fraud or other illegal activity perpetrated through the DostPost service or using the DostPost name, or to prevent imminent bodily harm. This may include sharing information with other companies, lawyers, agents or government agencies.

Also, we occasionally provide demonstration accounts that allow non-users a glimpse into DostPost. Such accounts have only limited capabilities and passwords are changed regularly to limit possible misuse.

We let you choose to share information with marketers or electronic commerce providers through sponsored groups or other on-site offers.

We may offer stores or provide services jointly with other companies on DostPost. You can tell when another company is involved in any store or service provided on DostPost, and we may share customer information with that company in connection with your use of that store or service.

If the ownership of all or substantially all of the DostPost business were to change, your user information may be transferred to the new owner so the service can continue operations. In any such transfer of information, your user information would remain subject to the promises made in any pre-existing Privacy Policy.

Links

Members may post links on DostPost. DostPost is not responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. This privacy policy is only applicable to the information collected by DostPost. We can also not be responsible for the content of websites that members link to on DostPost. Third Party Advertisements

DostPost does not have access to or control of any cookies that may be placed by third party advertisers. Third party advertisers have no access to your contact information stored on DostPost unless you choose to share it with them.

This privacy policy covers the use of cookies by DostPost and does not cover the use of cookies or other tracking technologies by any of its advertisers.

Altering or Removing Information

You can edit the content of your profile through the edit function in the navigation section. You are free to modify your profile content at any time. You may deactivate your account at any time. Deactivated accounts or altered information will not be available to other members but copies of the information may be backed up by DostPost for a reasonable amount of time. However, if you post on someones Scribbles or send them a message you will not be able to remove this content after your account is disabled.

Security

Because we take your security seriously we take precautions to protect your information. Your account information is located on a secure server protected by a firewall. Because electronic messaging (email, instant messaging) is not a secure method of communication, we request that you do not send us personal information via either of these methods. Terms of Use, Notices and Modifications

If you choose to use the DostPost service, your use and any dispute over privacy is subject to this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use, including limitations on damages, arbitration of, and application of law. We reserve the right to change our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use at any time. Non-material changes and clarification will take effect immediately, and material changes will take effect within 30 days of their posting in either the Terms of Use or Privacy Policy. We encourage you to refer back to this policy on a continual basis so that you fully understand the most current DostPost policies. Unless stated otherwise, our current privacy policy applies to all information that we have about you and your account.
